Meeting Overview

Conference Goal
The goal of the NMC Regional Meeting is to disseminate information on practical, on-farm aspects of udder health, mastitis control, milking management and milk quality.

Who Should Attend
All individuals interested in mastitis control and quality milk production. The program is geared towards producers, veterinarians, and other dairy industry professionals who work directly with producers. Meeting attendees include producers, veterinarians, dairy plant field staff, university researchers and extension agents, industry suppliers, government officials, and students.

Why You Should Attend
To keep up-to-date on the latest mastitis and milk quality information, and to network with other producers and colleagues who share a common interest of mastitis control and quality milk production.

General Session Program
The general session program will be held on Wednesday, May 23 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, with registration opening at 8:30 am. The fee is $75 in advance (by May 9), and $85 at the door. Registration includes lunch, breaks, a reception, and a copy of the proceedings which contains all the papers presented at the general session. [details]

Pre-Conference Short Course and Seminar
There are two pre-conference educational options which focus on specific topics. There will be an NMC short course on "Herd Manager Training" held on Tuesday, May 22 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. The short course has limited enrollment, requires pre-registration and an additional fee. The short course will provide herd managers with practical training and information about mastitis, and demonstrate how they and their fellow workers can have an impact on controlling mastitis in the herds within which they work. Veterinarians attending the NMC meeeting may also attend the ADVC seminar (see below).

ADVC Spring Meeting and Seminar
The Academy of Dairy Veterinary Consultants (ADVC) is holding their spring meeting in conjunction with the NMC regional meeting. The ADVC seminar, "ABCs of SPC (Statistical Process Control) Use on Dairies to Improve Herd Performance", will be open to non-ADVC veterinarians for a fee that includes ADVC membership for a year. The seminar also has limited enrollment. [details]

Evening Reception - Wine and Cheese Tasting
On Tuesday evening, May 22, an informal reception will be held from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm, featuring California wines and cheeses. The reception provides an excellent opportunity to meet friends and colleagues from all across the industry who are commited to producing high quality milk and ensuring the future of the dairy industry.

Registration Deadlines
The pre-registration deadline is May 9 for the general session program (Wednesday) and NMC short courses (Tuesday afternoon. However the short course may fill up before that date. After May 9, you may register at the door for the general session program. There will be on-site registration for the short courses ONLY if space is available (please check with the NMC office after May 9).
